WHO ARE WE?
ROTHCO SPORTS HISTORY
N. Rothenberg & Son was founded in 1905, when Nathan Rothenberg arrived in New York from Eastern Europe. Nathan became a used clothing peddler and with a lot of hard work and determination, was able to raise and support his family. His oldest son, Morris, was a bright young man who decided to help his father develop the used clothing business.
The company grew and eventually Morris moved the operation to New York City by establishing a warehouse in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Here, they had the facilities, equipment, and personnel needed to transform the company.
After WW2, Morris’ son, Marvin, became interested in the family business and decided to join his father in the company. In 1949, Marvin came to Puerto Rico, saw great potential for the used clothing market and establishes the company on the island. It all began with a small warehouse operation in Santurce.
Marvin continued to develop the company from used clothing to government surplus wholesale business distributing Army & Navy equipment.
In 1980, after Morris graduated from University, they decide to expand the family business by creating a new sports product division within the company and named it Rothco Sports.
Marvin passed away in 1987. Morris became President of ROTHCO SPORTS and in 1992, he decided to move its operations into an innovative 16,000 square foot facility at the Amelia Distribution Center in Guaynabo.
Presently, Rothco Sports is the exclusive distributor for Rawlings, Worth, Miken, Easton, Molten, and Champion products,
In 2001, a retail division was established catering to the high-end sports equipment market. The retail store was named MVP Sports.
